Painting Holidays Italy - Art Holidays - Europe

Painting Holidays Italy is run by husband and wife team Caroline and Andrea.  Caroline (English) likes to paint and Andrea(Italian) likes to cook.

Our painting/drawing holidays are relaxed and informal as I believe that a supportive atmosphere is as important for the production of art as any amount of tutoring.

The courses are taught by professional tutors, and with a ratio of 1:3 we can offer help to all artists, whether an absolute beginner or a more experienced artist.

We have a two pronged approach to art.  Firstly we cover the basic techniques and rational aspects, talking about perspective, form, tone etc but secondly bringing out the artist inside us all.  With a serious of fun quick exercises you will find that your art can become more spontaneous and free.

We schedule two trips in the surrounding area:-

Camerino - a beautiful little renaissance town, well off the tourist track.  Its little cobbled streets, distictive duomo and park make it ideal for painting en plein air.  If it rains, or you'd just rather paint in the shade, we paint in the beautiful arched courtyard of the Ducal Palace (see photo) Altermatively you can join me in some 'guerilla sketching' - the quick drawing of people in bars or generally around town.  Bring dark glasses, that way no one can tell where you're looking.

Rocca d'Ajello - a gorgeous little castle just up the road.  Although it has internationally renowned gardens this gem is remarkablly secluded  so you will be free to wander the grounds and gardens.

There are many lovely views from our property (we are soon to be featured on Roomswithgreatviews.com - 15 June) so if you prefer to stay at home to paint that is OK too.

Meanwhile Andrea will be cooking for us.  He produces regional quisine with lots of new flavours as well as old favourites. Andrea comes from Rome and often sneaks in some Roman dishes too.  Squid and artichoke is a particular favourite of mine. We also provide local wines.

Artists will stay in a separate farmhouse attached to our own which we have restored and furnished with treasures from local antique markets. We have a fully equipped studio, a small pool and a gym (well, a collection of fitness equipment all in one place!)

Our holidays are inclusive of accommodation, food, drink, tuition, equipment, materials and facilities - all you have to do is get there.
