The Retreat is an artist’s studio in our lovingly restored country house Villa San Taddeo. The owners John Skelcher a professional British artist and art tutor and his partner Jana, run painting courses and art workshops suitable for all levels of ability.
Our courses offer everyone the opportunity to try out and develop artistic techniques in an inspiring setting. You will be painting in ancient hill-top towns and enchanting places in the countryside. On our days out you will be able to explore the rich art history of the Italian Renaissance and see for yourself why the great masters such as Crivelli and Raphael worked in this truly unique region.
The Retreat is set in beautiful countryside in the southern region of Le Marche. Known as "All of Italy in one region“ it is the ideal location for any aspiring and experienced artist. For the painter, Le Marche offers immediate and subtle immersion into the richest visual environment Italy, and perhaps Europe, has to offer. It is the true birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Timetable, Prices & Special Offers
Painting Holidays and Art workshops run from Saturday to Saturday and are on a full board and accommodation basis. Our groups are small with no more than 6 participants allowing everyone to make the most of the tuition offered. At The Retreat, you can spend as much or little time painting and creating as you wish – it is after all your holiday and we want you to enjoy yourself to the full. Non painting-partners welcome.
Prices: £795 p.p based on full board double/twin room occupancy. Transport to all locations, art materials, tuition and a day trip to a classical Italian City or place of interest are included.
Self-Catering apartments: There are 2 fully equipped self-catering apartments available at Villa San Taddeo for let thoughout the year.A one-bedroom apartment sleeping 2 and a two bedroom apartment sleeping 4-6 people. Use of baby equipment, laundry facilities, outside terraces, BBQ area, pool included.
Prices: from £295 p.w. for one-bedroom apartment & £350 p.w. for 2 bed apartment
25% deposit required to confirm bookings.
Travel
The Retreat is conveniently located 1.5 hours distance from both Ancona and Pescara airport. We arrange for airport pick-ups and drop-offs on request at an extra cost.
