FRESIA offers oil painting workshops at Villa de Herra, a 17th century villa located directly on the lake in Lenno. The lakeside location offers a magical view of the lake; a tranquil setting to relax and paint; beautifully prepared meals on the terrace to match the ambiance; and easy access to other towns such as Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna.
It also offers inspiration. Yes, there’s beauty all around, but the instruction in itself is inspiring. Animated and engaging, Jerry teaches a painting method that was handed down directly from the French Impressionists to various Americans such as Sargent, Henri, Chase, Hawthorne, and Brackman. You will learn not only the techniques but also the history and philosophy behind this method.
Workshops are open to students with any level of painting experience. Class size is limited to 7 students so you get ample one-on-one instruction. And all art materials are provided so you can travel light or start painting without making a commitment.
Timetable, Prices & Special Offers
Dates: In 2012, we offer eight 6-day painting classes and they run from Sunday thru Saturday. They are scheduled one after the other so you can take multiple classes if you wish.

Price: The workshop fee for the 6-day class is 1080EUR and includes 5 weekday classes with 25 hours of instruction, some meals (welcome reception, one 5-course dinner, farewell lunch) and all art materials. Friends or spouses are welcome for an extra charge of 100EUR.
Lodging: Cost is separate but we make the reservation for you. Room rates range from 70EUR to 165EUR per night. Hotels are within walking distance from the studio. Affortable rentals are also available.
Transportation: Cost is also separate. Private transfers from/to Malpensa airport costs 110EUR one-way. Public transportation costs 16EUR one-way.
Travel
Lenno is less than 1 ½ hours by car from Milan Malpensa airport or Milan city center. We can arrange a private transfer or send you detailed instructions on how to get here. You can take a train from Malpensa/Milan to Como and then a bus or ferry to Lenno.
