Farm B&B Hexham - Farm House B and B Northumberland

All B &B rooms are set in an attractive, recently converted, traditional Nortumbrian stone barn set around a courtyard. There are three large bedrooms fitted out in a relaxing, contemporary style, all have spacious en-suite bathrooms.

Bedroom One
A lovely, light double room with a modern feel and well appointed en-suite bathroom. Just lie in bed and gaze out of the floor level window.

Bedroom Two
This is a room with a superb view and a super king bed with beautiful brass bed head that has to be seen to be believed! We can easily change this room into a twin room if required.

Bedroom Three
This double room with disabled access is furnished throughout with beautiful mahogany furniture and has a large en-suite wet room fully tiled throughout.

Breakfast Room, Breakfast, Evening Meals and Pack Lunches
You can enjoy a full traditional English - the sausages, bacon and free-range eggs are all sourced locally - or a Continental breakfast with lovely warm croissants. From the sideboard you can help yourself to fresh fruit salad, yogurt, a selection of cereals, fruit juice and as much freshly brewed coffee as you fancy.

£40 per night Monday - Thursday

We do not charge for children under 3 years of age sharing a room with their
parents - however we cannot always provide a travel cot or bedding

There are several good pubs in the surrounding area, including a few that serve real ale (some from Allendale Towns very own brewery), but if you would rather just put your feet up and relax after a busy day exploring we can provide a delicious home cooked evening meal. Pack lunches are also available.

The large, light breakfast room leads out through double doors on to the patio and courtyard where you are welcome to sit and enjoy yourself, or wander out on to the Fell for a walk down to the trout pond or through the hay field to explore the newly restored Lime Kiln.

Travel

By Road:

From the East
At Newcastle come off the A1 - at the Hexham/Carlisle turn off and turn left onto the A69. Do not turn off at the Hexham roundabout but continue straight on to next turning on left signposted West End (of Hexham), continue along this road until you reach a junction with traffic lights, turn right, signposted Allendale. At the bottom end of Catton village turn right (signposted Nenthead/Carrshields) at next junction turn right, signposted Whitfield, (sign post is on the wall behind you). After approx. 2.5 miles you will come to Keenley crossroads - turn left up the hill, signposted Ninebanks. Continue up this road passing Quarry House on your right, ignore turning on the left and continue up the hill to High Keenley Fell which is on the left.

From the North West
From the M6 at Carlisle take the slip road marked Galashiels/Hexham at the roundabout turn right on to the A69 Hexham/Newcastle road continue along this road until you reach Haltwhistle, do not turn into Haltwhistle but take
the second turning on your right on the bypass, signposted Whitfield. At Whitfield turn right and almost immediately you will see the Elks Head pub turn left on to the Allendale road after approx. 1.5 miles you will reach a set of cross roads turn right, signposted Ninebanks continue up this road passing Quarry House on your right, ignore turning on the left and continue up the hill to High Keenley Fell.

From the South West
Leave the M6 at Penrith and take the B686 Alston Road continue on this road until you reach Whitfield and then turn right at the Elks Head Pub on to the Allendale road after approx. 1.5 miles you will reach a set of cross roads turn right, signposted Ninebanks continue up this road passing Quarry House on your right, ignore turning on the left and continue up the hill to High Keenley Fell.

Public Transport 

By train - there is a train service that runs regularly from Newcastle on the east coast to Hexham and from Carlisle on the west coast to either Haltwhistle or Hexham we can pick you up from either of these destinations.

Airport -we can pick you up from Newcastle Airport.

Local sites and activities 

Explore Hadrian's Wall
High Keenley Fell is near the most spectacular sections of Hadrians Wall and the most important Roman sites, including Vindolanda, Housesteads, Birdoswald and Chesters - all accessable by the award winning Hadrian's Wall Bus Service.

Walkers
High Keenley Fell is an excellent base from which to explore the North Pennines or Roman Wall Country. We can easily provide you with a pack lunch and when you return to base you can leave your outdoor clothes in the utility room. If you would like to walk a section of Hadrian's Wall we can easily drop you off and pick you up again later in the day

Cyclists
This is a wonderful area to cycle in. There are plenty of quiet picturesque country roads and you can choose whether you want something challenging or a reasonably gentle ride. We also have plenty of room to store your bikes. (See also Hadrian's Cycleway)

Equestrian
We can arrange horse trekking or riding lessons. If you have a horse of your own why don't you bring it with you and enjoy riding in un-spoilt countryside? Your horse can either be kept out at grass or in one of our very large loose boxes. (See also Horse Riding in Northumberland)

Other Activities
We can also arrange fishing, shooting (incuding clays), bird watching and golf all within the Allendale area.

There is very little light pollution at High Keenley so it's an ideal place to stay for keen astronomers.

Visit Newcastle & Gateshead
We are only approx. 40 minutes away from Gateshead MetroCentre and 10 minutes later you could be in the centre of buzzing Newcastle with attractions such as Laing Art Gallery, Sage Gateshead, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and magnificent Grey Street is also worth a look, with it's wonderful Georgian architecture.
